Automated Timesheet & Payroll Calculation System

Processing employee and intern timesheets from scheduling software involved manually calculating unpaid breaks, regular hours, and complex overtime (OT and Double OT) across different hourly rates and job sites. This manual calculation was tedious, highly susceptible to payroll errors, and consistently delayed the weekly processing cycle.

Developed a Zapier Code step using JavaScript to ingest raw, comma-separated timestamp data and break hours from the scheduling platform. The script dynamically parses complex date/time strings, calculates total regular hours, applies OT and Double OT logic, computes exact payroll totals per employee, and generates a structured CSV output. The system also maps manager and clock-in notes to the final output for auditing.

Eradicated manual payroll miscalculations and shaved hours off the weekly payroll processing cycle. Ensured staff and interns are paid accurately and on time while creating a clean, auditable CSV record of all shifts, job sites, and manager notes ready for direct import into the accounting system.
