AI-powered customer support automation that uses n8n and Ollama to process customer inquiries, generate intelligent responses, and integrate support workflows with backend systems.
Customer support teams often spend significant time handling repetitive customer inquiries manually, resulting in slower response times and inconsistent responses. The challenge was to automate routine support interactions while maintaining accurate and context-aware communication.
Implemented an AI-powered customer support workflow using n8n and Ollama, integrated with a PHP REST API and MySQL database. The solution automates customer inquiry processing, uses an LLM to generate context-aware responses, and connects AI capabilities with backend business workflows.
The AI automation significantly increased customer-handling capacity while reducing manual support effort. During a 14-day test, daily customer capacity increased from approximately 100–200 customers without AI to 180–350 customers with AI assistance, approaching a 2× increase. The AI successfully handled 92% of 12,362 customer chats without human intervention, while routine inquiries were resolved faster and complex cases were escalated to human support.
Over 14 days, the system processed approximately 12,362 customer chats and autonomously resolved 92% (approximately 11,373 conversations). Based on an estimated manual handling time of 15–25 minutes per conversation, this represents approximately 2,843–4,739 hours of manual-equivalent support effort automated, with a midpoint estimate of 3,791 hours. Customer-handling capacity increased from approximately 100–200 to 180–350 customers per day. Based on the historical revenue per customer, this represents an estimated revenue capacity of approximately $1,770–$3,441 per day, rather than revenue directly generated by AI.
